Tips for Choosing your Fine Art
Monitor Brightness/Color
If you're using a viewing device such as a tablet or smartphone, set your brightness to medium. For a computer monitor, make sure it doesn't have any altered color values. If your monitor is over-saturated or has an altered color temperature (too "cold" or too "warm"), it will effect what you see and receive.
Finish Type
Consider your photo paper. E-Surface (lustre) has a small to moderate amount of sheen to the photo paper is not overly shiny like glossy photo paper is. Metallic has a glossy sheen reminiscent of iridescent shimmer that makes colors POP. Canvas and metal wall art provide alternative formats that catch the eye, with canvas being non-reflective, and metal wall art on the glossier spectrum. The above picture shows E-Surface paper under glass.
Light Glare
So you picked your favorite finish type, and now can't see your new photograph because your overhead light looks like a UFO reflected in the picture? That's why you need to consider your overall room lighting. Glossy prints like the metallic photo paper and the metal wall art may not be the best choices for very strong overhead lights, or if a floor lamp is too close to the art. Note the reflection in the metallic photo print above. One strong LED light on a low ceiling can have quite the effect!
